Parent Education Rights & Responsibilities during COVID-19

Please review the information in the links below. In one very short week, River Road ISD will be reopening all four campuses for in-class learning.  Our first day of school is August 20th, and we are very excited to see and teach your children once again.  We have attached some important information for you to look at.  If you have not already enrolled your child for the 2020-2021 school year, please do so as soon as possible.  Even if you are planning to have your child start school at home in our online portal, you still need to make sure your child is enrolled.

Speaking of Online Learning.  If that is an option you want for your child, please contact your child’s principal as soon as possible to discuss the process.”

Many questions have already been sent to us regarding Governor Abbott’s “mask order.”  River Road ISD will be following Governor Abbott’s, The Texas Education Agency’s, and UIL’s Face-Covering requirements and recommendations.

All visitors will be required to wear a face-covering upon entering and being in our facilities; this includes athletic events in our gyms and stadium.  We need all parents and visitors to comply with this order.  We want our athletes and students to be able to play and participate in a safe environment.  If parents and visitors don’t comply, our students and athletes run the risk of not being allowed to play or participate in a full season.

All staff members are required to wear a face-covering during the school day.  Per the Governor’s order, all students ten years old or in grades 4 through 12 will be required to wear a face-covering during the school day and while riding RRISD Transportation.

Students in grades PK thru 3rd are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to wear a mask.  If a student is exposed to COVID-19 and does not have a face-cover on, then that student will probably be quarantined per the Amarillo Health Department.  Depending on the circumstances and data, River Road ISD reserves the right to extend the Face-Covering mandate to include grades PK thru 3rd in the future.

If your child does not have a face covering, one will be provided for your child.
