Amarillo ISD is Now Offering Free COVID-19 Testing

Amarillo Independent School District is now offering free COVID-19 testing for symptomatic AISD and River Road ISD School students.

Beginning Tuesday February 2, 2021 through Friday March 13, 2021, AISD will offer free testing to currently enrolled River Road ISD students showing symptoms or signs of COVID-19.  Individuals may utilize the drive-through testing site on the southeast side of the Rod Schroder ESC located at 7200 I-40 West (I-40 and Coulter next to Golden Corral) any Monday through Friday that school is open and weather permits.

Hours of Operation

                                Monday         9:30 AM – 2:00 PM STAFF ONLY

Tuesday         9:30 AM – 2:00 PM Staff and Students

Wednesday   9:30 AM – 2:00 PM Staff and Students

Thursday       9:30 AM – 2:00 PM Staff and Students

Friday            9:30 AM – 2:00 PM Staff and Students

The testing site may close during inclement weather (rain/snow/extreme cold or wind).

 

This is a drive-through site only; all individuals must be in a vehicle.  Attached is a diagram and map of the testing location. Test results will be communicated by phone, email, or text, typically within an hour after testing.  If a positive result is confirmed, you must report the positive result to your campus and follow any reentry criteria.  If a negative result is confirmed, you may return to school/work immediately if no fever is present.

All individuals (staff and students) MUST pre-register before arriving at the testing

BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE TESTING SITE:

  1. Pre-register for testing
    1. Bring a copy (paper or digital) of the QR code you received after pre-registering
  2. Print and complete the Staff or Student Consent Form
  3. No testing will be allowed without a completed and signed consent form and pre-registration QR code
  4. Students must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian
  5. Students will enter his/her student ID number as the Personal Identifier
  6. All individuals in the vehicle must be masked while at the testing site

The BinaxNOW tests are:

  • More than 97% accurate
  • Rapid tests (results returned in minutes and sent by phone, text, or email in approximately an hour)
  • Used with a minimally invasive nasal swab and must be self-administered or administered by the accompanying parent/legal guardian
  • Free of charge to AISD staff and currently enrolled students

 

Possible COVID-19 Symptoms:

  • Temperature of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth
  • Sore Throat
  • Cough
  • Difficulty Breathing, shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting
  • Headache
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Fatigue
  • Chills or exaggerated shivering or shaking
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Significant muscle pain or severe body aches
