Students at Rolling
Hills Elementary took a trip back in time. The High School gym was packed with lots of
smiling 2nd grade students clad in poodle skirts,
colorful scarves, saddle shoes, bobby socks, leather
jackets and rolled-up jeans.
They danced the hand
jive and sang along to songs like Ritchie Valens’

school book in sight.

River
Road ISD = 100% Highly Qualified
The No
Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)
requires that all core subject area
teachers meet highly qualified (HQ)
teacher requirements. Each district
is required to publicly report the
percentage of teachers meeting this
status. River Road ISD reports that,
for the 2009-2010 school year,100%
of the core academic teachers in the
district meet this federal
requirement. River Road ISD has a
commitment to recruit, hire and
retain highly qualified teachers for
every classroom in the district. For
those teachers who do not meet the
"highly qualified" status when
hired, the district will work with
the teacher and the certification
entity in order to reach 100% HQ
status. For more detailed
information regarding the federal
highly qualified teacher
requirements, you may go to
http://www.tea.state.tx.us/nclb/hqteachers.html,
or contact the campus principal. The
TEA Highly Qualified Summary Report
can also be found under the Forms
and Resources section on our
district website.
